Moridunum Development

About the Project 

The Moridunum, located on Seaton seafront, is a unique structure known as the "sea fort," currently owned by East Devon District Council (EDDC). The building includes disused public toilets below and a ramped walkway above, offering breathtaking views of the bay. Despite being marketed as a commercial development opportunity, the site has struggled to attract buyers, with no offers received from the 17 interested parties over the summer. EDDC has informed us through their agent that they have selected a bidder other than the Chamber. The Chamber is closely monitoring the bidding process and is ready to collaborate with the new bidder selected by EDDC to bring a high-quality venture to Seaton. Regardless of the final selection, we will assist the chosen bidder to transform the current seafront "blot" into a valuable asset for our community.
